Capable, versatile studio director who, though never a front-rank figure, did much to shape the output of Warner Bros. in the 1930s and 40s. Del Ruth worked in TV from 1955 to 1961. Brother of screenwriter-director Hampton Del Ruth and father of cinematographer Thomas Del Ruth.
